What you'll experience during treatment
Nicky Hambleton-Jones — Peel 3000
I have never tried a chemical peel and I'm very apprehensive. I've had my lips plumped, my cellulite pummelled and injections in the soles of my feet, but a skin peel is well, on my face. As far as DIY peels go, this is as serious as it gets. However, Michelle from Skin Culture assures me that as long as I follow the instructions to the letter and do a patch test, nothing can go wrong. So after a couple of weeks of 'should I or shouldn't I?' I take the plunge.
First Application — It stings like hell
The Pain Is Intense — But fleeting
Looking Tanned — The last peel cream day
Like a Two-Week-Old Apple
The Peeling Starts — The temptation is real
My Face Looks Like a Prune
Fresh, Glowing Skin Emerging
I Have New Skin!
After the treatment, I look positively glowing. My mother tells me I look positively glowing and even my husband notices a difference. As far as DIY peels go, this is as good as it gets.
You will experience a hot stinging sensation lasting 15–20 minutes after applying the peeling formula. The sensation varies from individual to individual — some feel a warm tingling, others a more intense sensation. On average it lasts about 15–20 minutes. Fanning the facial area will relieve any discomfort by up to 75%. It should also be noted that the more you feel the treatment, the better the results will be.
Customer Diary — Peel 3000
I have been doing Skin Culture peels for a few years, so I know what to expect. In the morning you just wash your face and leave it — no creams, lotions or potions. My face feels very tight and looks slightly red on the first day, but I can still go out and about.
Day One — Tight and slightly red
Day Two — Redder, but still manageable
Day Three — Very red, slightly self-conscious
Day Four — Last peel cream, peeling begins around mouth
Day Five — Peeling in earnest
Day Six — Something out of a horror film
The skin that emerged was worth every day of the process — softer, clearer and visibly more even in tone. I'll be doing it again.
Is the peeling normal? Yes — completely.
Every diary you've just read describes perfectly normal results. The redness, tightness, and visible peeling are all essential parts of the process — the old, damaged skin shedding to reveal the fresh, healthy skin beneath. The vast majority of our customers are back to normal within 6–8 days, and the results make every day worthwhile.
